WM083-15 Technology Management and Innovation
Introductory description
This module looks at the role and value of innovation and technology in the business. It addresses how to manage innovation and technology at both a strategic and operational level in a business. It will also consider how to select and apply appropriate frameworks and techniques for identifying, assessing and delivering technological change at an acceptable risk.
Module aims
The aim of this module is to provide an understanding of innovation and the role that technology management plays in achieving innovation.

Learning outcomes
By the end of the module, students should be able to:
- Appraise business ‘conditions’ for innovation and examine its relationship with competitive performance
- Critically examine the role of technology and demonstrate how its effective management contributes to innovation
- Effectively apply an approach for managing technology in an organisation as a team
- Understand and apply a holistic framework for the effective management of technologies for innovation
- Demonstrate the application of tools and techniques to identify and deliver technological change at an acceptable risk

Group case study including an introduction, group work to analyse and discuss a given case, and finished with group presentation. The maximum presentation time for any one presentation is between 10 - 15 minutes. Work is marked collectively if contribution is equal, or may be individually adjusted based on different contribution levels. |

Feedback on assessment
Written feedback will be provided in a report for all Post Module assignments. Feedback for the case studies will be given verbally during the module with written feedback for all in-module components provided within a week of the face to face part of the module.
